Non-urgent patient transport
Every year, ART* transports more than 200,000 patients in the Flemish provinces, the Brussels-Capital Region and part of Wallonia.
Transport is coordinated from one central dispatch centre, located at our head office in Wijnegem and accessible 24/7, with support from regional dispatch centres. All centres are staffed by experienced dispatchers, who immediately enter the received calls into Tripto, a state-of-the-art software package, developed to optimise all patient transport operations.
The system uses real-time traffic information to create tasks and ensure efficient control of the ambulances. This information is communicated to the ambulance drivers via smartphones.

Each new staff member has completed a 132-hour non-urgent patient transport course. In this course, in addition to the necessary medical training, a lot of attention is paid to practice, defensive and comfortable driving, etc. The course is followed by a theoretical and practical exam. Internal training and practical exercises are provided throughout the year.
The ART* fleet is managed by the Fleet Manager. All our vehicles comply with the applicable regional and federal legislation
I am a nurse at WZC Sint Lambertus buren in Zelem and I would like to thank your staff for their kindness and professionalism. They always bring our patients safely to their destination with the necessary care.
My mother was transferred from AZ Voorkempen to WZC Koala. She returned with 2 incredibly sweet ladies who treated her with great respect, politeness and helpfulness. They made her feel so comfortable that she arrived with a smile.
