Repatriations

When you travel abroad, you don't expect an accident or illness to force you to return home earlier than expected. But accidents can happen quickly!

Many assistance companies therefore offer their customers travel insurance. This insurance offers the possibility of being repatriated. The treating physician abroad, the medical assistance service and our specialized International service determine in mutual consultation what the most comfortable and efficient way is to repatriate the patient concerned.

Uninsured patients can also make use of this service. In this case too, we offer a total package: the complete medical and logistical handling from bed to bed in the most comfortable and efficient way for the patient.

By road

  • By lying taxi or VSL: intended for patients who are still mobile and do not require medical care during transport.

  • By ambulance: intended for patients who are unable to move independently and/or require medical care.

  • By clinic mobile: intended for patients who need extra (intensive) medical care. This type of transport is always carried out under the supervision of a doctor and nurse.

Through the air

  • By flight: intended for patients who are still mobile and can be transported while sitting.

  • By ambulance flight: intended for patients who are in critical condition. The patient is transported in a specially equipped aircraft and accompanied by a doctor and nurse.

  • Mass evacuation (such as during the ski season): intended to repatriate patients in groups. Larger aircraft are chartered for this purpose. Here too, ART* is ready with 30 to 40 vehicles to bring patients – with or without medical supervision – to their destination.
